Synopsis

Sabina thaj o Elvis – that’s Romani, the language of the Roma, and it means Sabina and Elvis. Sabina and Elvis are Roma and live in Leipzig Grünau. Elvis and his friends Saša, Dani and Boško as well as Sabina and her friend Lea have an appointment outside a club and want to go dancing. But the doorman won’t let them in. They have to leave again.

Lea and Elvis‘ friends drive in Lea’s car, and Elvis takes Sabina to the youth club on her bike. The men are playing table tennis there and the two young women are chatting. Elvis asks Sabina if she would like to go for a walk with him. Sabina wants to, and they go for a walk and talk. Just before she gets on the tram, Sabina gives Elvis her phone number.

The next day, after some hesitation, Elvis calls Sabina. Meanwhile, her father comes into her room and asks who she is talking to. »Lea,« she says, because her father must not find out about Elvis.

Sabina and Elvis make a date and spend a lot of time together in the following weeks. Sabina and Elvis fall in love. But every time they get closer to Grünau, Sabina insists that they no longer walk hand in hand, because Sabina’s parents cannot see them together under any circumstances.
